Glenn L. VanDyke
Age 79, of Holt, MI, passed away March 20, 2017, in Lansing. Glenn was born February 5, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN, to John and Irene (Fisher) VanDyke. On October 27, 1979, he married Marjorie A. Dietzel and she survives. He grew up in Coldwater, Michigan, graduated from Western Michigan University, was a member of the Army National Guard, and worked for the State of Michigan, Public Service Commission, retiring in 2000. Glenn was a member of the Holt United Methodist Church. He and Marge enjoyed going on Caribbean cruises and wintering in Florida. He also enjoyed building model cars and planes, studying Civil War history, NASCAR, U of M football, and reading.
He is survived by Marge VanDyke, his wife of 37 years; a brother, Peter (Elaine) VanDyke; father-in-law, Eldon Dietzel; sisters-in-law, Patricia (John) VanZant, Kathy McQueen and Angela (Gerald) Dubs; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John (Joan) VanDyke; sisters, Dorothy (Carl) Tompkins, Mary (Howard) Smith and Beatrice (Clyde) Dowell; mother-in-law, Joyce Dietzel; and brother-in-law, James McQueen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for their care and compassion.
The memorial service for Glenn VanDyke will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Holt United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Holt United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
