Gerald “Jerry” Houlehen

Age 60, from Cudahy, WI, died suddenly on Saturday May 7th, 2022.  Jerry was born to Gerald Houlehen and Esther Stanislawski.  Known as Jerry or Buzzy, he’s survived by his son Mackenzie Houlehen and 2 daughters Hayley and Natalie Houlehen whom he was very proud of.  He is also survived by his sister Mary Olson (Bob), former wife Paula Johnson, and extended family and many friends.

Jerry was a resident of East Lansing where he worked in sales.  He loved all things sports (Badgers/Packers), spending time with his family and many friends, and love for his 2 late Labrador dogs Gaby and Riley.

Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor, socializing with anyone and everyone, and larger than life personality.

We will be celebrating his life Wednesday, May 18th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Reno’s East, 1310 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, Michigan.

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Capital Area Humane Society https://www.cahs-lansing.org/support/donate/

Your obit describes you well my friend. You will definitely be missed. We had many good times w/ coaching our kids in soccer, attending school functions, watching lacrosse, playing softball for Buddies, seeing our boys survive CMU and just having fun together. I’m so thankful that i just got to talk with you a couple weeks ago to catch up.

Make sure to save a bloody mary with bacon for me in heaven. We’ll toast you down here! RIP Jerry!

I’ll never forget the backyard games of 7 on 7 and whiffleball hosted in Jerry’s back yard. Jerry always had a patio crowd and occasionally filled in as the all-time QB.

You are already missed Jerry, RIP.

To my life long friend, whom I have known since grade school. Such fond memories of the all American childhood we grew up with and the fulfilling life we have had as adults. Life can cause people to grow apart and see less of each other, but with life long friends like Buzzy you can pick right back up like you never missed a beat. All the baseball, and basketball we played. All the golf as kids at Warnimont and Grant parks. How your dad would take us to other courses during the summer when he was off. How we saw our first pairs of bare breasts at the wet tee shirt contests we snuck into at the beach bar in the Fountain Blue Hotel in Panama City Beach Fla. I will miss you a piece of me is now gone. I pray your in Heaven and that God comforts your family.

I cannot believe your no longer with us. You were always a good friend since jr high playing grade school football. Eating all my pizzas and beer at my house in highschool. All these past adult years smack talking football and Basketball at each other between WI and TX. I Miss you already and now more than ever this football season. This is hitting me very hard Gerald Buzzy Houlehen. RIP my friend.

Sweet Sweet Buzzy – I’ll never forget growing up in Cudahy with you riding your stingray bike with banana seat and playing kick the can in the alley. I am devastated by this news and will miss seeing your posts on fb sharing your beautiful children and all their accomplishments-how you loved them and they love you. I am so sad and will miss you so. RIP “Buzzy”

Buzz

My brother, roommate, and friend. I can’t begin to express the loss I felt when I heard this unbelievable news. I am heartbroken for your family and will have them in my prayers. I am so thankful for all the great times we spent together in Suite A, at Summerfest, and the many sporting events we went to. I am going to miss seeing you and Mac at Badger games as well as our game day text sessions. I love you. Peace be with you.

Buzz,
So sorry to lose you in body so early, but I know your spirit is strong. Obviously channeled through Jrue Holiday last night! Now you have baseline seats.

Will miss your quick wit and sense of humor. And, of course, the financial advice! Cheers to you brother and we’ll meet again someday. Say hi to my brother John.

Love,
Kelley
