Gerald Jean DeJuliannie

Gerald Jean DeJuliannie, 82, of Lansing, MI, went to be with his mother in heaven on January 7, 2019. He was born May 4, 1936, to Alfred and Virginia (Bacca) DeJuliannie of Iron Mountain, MI. Gerald attended Iron Mountain High School and earned a BA from Northern Michigan University. During college he took 2 years off to join the Army. In the army he learned how to be a clerk which led him to his future career path. After graduation he moved from the Upper Peninsula to Lansing, eventually taking a job as a budget analysis with the State of Michigan. He worked closely with our state lawmakers in creating the yearly state budget. In 1993, he retired from the State of Michigan. Gerald was also active with the Democratic Party and worked on several campaigns. He created many great friendships over the years that lasted his lifetime. Once he made a friend, they were a friend for life.

Gerald is survived by his loving daughter, Amy (Ken) Willis; grandchildren, Chris and Lauren: his brothers: Al (Rosie) DeJuliannie and David DeJuliannie; sister-in-law, Marion DeJuliannie; nephews: Joseph (Katherine) DeJuliannie, Michael (Denise) DeJuliannie, Jeffery DeJuliannie, Terance DeJuliannie, Craig Kalkbrenner, and Michael Kalkbrenner; nieces, Laurie Schlumpf, Nicole Barens, and Kelly DeJuliannie; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph DeJuliannie; his nephews, Scott and Lawrence DeJuliannie; and niece, Mary DeJuliannie.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. His family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Gerald adored his daughter and grandchildren and the opportunity to be a part of their lives. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. I came to the Senate Fiscal Agency in 1975 as a Fiscal Analyst fresh out of graduate school, and “Gerry D.” became not only a colleague, but a friend and teacher who was very good to me. I even bought a car from him – a monster Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. I will miss him and honor his memory.
