Georgia Kay Vincent
Georgia Kay Vincent (better known as Kay) passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Sparrow Hospital at 11:25 in the evening after suffering a heart attack.
She is survived by special friend, Richard Hall; sisters, Starr Ferris and Kara (Robert) Morales; brothers, Allen (Marjean) Nickerson, David (Margie) Bowles, and John (friend Janet) Bowles; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; her aunt, Nancy; and one 98-year-old uncle, Howard (Lorraine) McCune. She was predeceased by her parents, Ashton “Red” and Alma (Roiter) Nickerson; husband, Edwin Park Vincent; two children, Todd and Rebecca; a grandson Nathaniel; and her sister, Leilani (Frank) Mallard.
Kay and her husband lived in many different states during his career in the Marines and she taught school in Guam. Then they finally settled in Lansing where Kay lived in the same house for over 35 years. She started working for the State of Michigan on January 22, 1985, in the Supreme Court Office of Reporter of Decisions and retired on January 31, 2001. She loved to read and always said dancing was in her blood. She has painted numerous beautiful oil paintings. She was a beautiful quilt maker and often gave them to family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a strong take-charge independent woman who didn’t like anyone telling her what to do. Kay was loved by all who knew her. Her death was a shock, and she will be missed by all of us.
The funeral service for Kay will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI 48933 with Pastor Chuck Jenson officiating, interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Capital Region. February 11, 2022 at 9:44 amMY SISTER
She was funny
She was smart
She had a lot of love
That came from the heart
She was strong she was bossy
Talented and kind
She wasn’t afraid
To speak her mind
She left us without warning
Without saying goodbye
Wipe the tears from your face
Try not to cry
It was so unexpected
The shock is hard to take
I am afraid
My heart might break
She was loved and we will miss her
That’s all I can say
We had to bury
My sister today
