George “Bud” J. Rotter
George “Bud” John Rotter, of Holt, MI, died Monday, June 5, 2023. He was born on August 2, 1924, in Petoskey, MI, the only child of Gordon and Josephine (Racignol) Rotter.
He grew up in Alanson, MI, where he graduated from Littlefield Public High School in 1942. George attended Michigan State University and Ferris State Institute.
George served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant 556th Anti Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion as a participant in WWII Germany “Battle of the Bulge,” with an honorable discharge in 1946. George worked for the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Banner Linen Co. & retired from Paul Fata & Sons in 1991.
In August of 1946, George married his beloved wife of 69 years, Georgia (Sayer) Rotter, who preceded him in death in 2014. George was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He loved golf, basketball, traveling and spending time with family.
George is survived by three children: Amy Rotter, Gregory (Barb) Rotter, and Molly (Marty) Noss; grandchildren, Mary Ann (Steve) Boniface, Becky (Colin) Ziegenbein, Marleigh (Branden) Burris, and Mitchell Noss; great-grandchildren, Pearson and Paisleigh Jo Burris, along with several loving nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Rotter and granddaughter Mallory Jo Noss.
A private family graveside service is planned at Ohioville Cemetery, Indian River, MI at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics Area 8 or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
