Gene Alan Nesbitt

Born January 12, 1951 in Mason, Michigan; died April 17, 2021 at the age of 70.

Gene was a lifetime resident of Mason, growing up on his family’s farm on Columbia Road where his mother had an egg business with 1,500 head of chickens. He graduated from Mason High School, class of 1969. He later moved to Harper Road in Mason and started his own business, Custom Flooring, which he operated for many years. He prided himself on quality work and always went above what the customer expected.

He dearly loved his sports including the Spartans, Tigers, Lions and Nascar and shared many a spirited conversation about them with others. Another highlight for him was the annual “Flotilla” for many, many years with close friends. It was something he looked forward to all year.

Whether you knew him as Gene, Geno, Nezzi, or Uncle Gene, he was loved by many. He lived life on his terms and will be dearly missed. So we bid him farewell with his trademark “C’ya”.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason.

Those who wish may make a memorial contribution, in Gene’s memory, to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Gene was a good friend and a professional tradesman that are impossible to find anymore. His work at our home is a shining example of his expertise. He was a classmate and he would bring happiness and laughter to any gathering. Thank you Ness for everything, but especially the memories. Love, Kevin and Louann O’Brien.
