Gayl "Whitey" Kauffman

Gayl “Whitey” Kauffman passed away August 28, 2011, at the age of 100.  He was born in Lansing, MI on March 1, 1911, the son of Edwin and Genevieve Kauffman.

He retired from the Oldsmobile Forge Plant.  He enjoyed fishing, especially on Saddlebag Lake, where he lived for many years.

Surviving are his children, Judy Cole, Bruce (Heidi) Kauffman, and Sue Ellen (Marv) Raffler; grandchildren, Karen Lundy, Cindi Riley, Steve Good, Mike Good, Todd Cole, Amy Cole, Brian Cole, Heather Kauffman, LeeAnn Vipond, Jenny Reynolds, Aaron Raffler, and Bethany Gortmaker; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth Kauffman; daughter, Betty Lou Good; and grandson, Bruce Kauffman II.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Gayl was such a fine person. He always had tale to tell. I have known him my entire life and he was a very good friend to my Grandparents Robert and Edythe Bellingar. He will be truly missed on this earth.
