Fujie White

Age 92, of Clarkston, Michigan (formerly of Holt, Michigan), passed away October 28, 2021.

She was born July 1, 1929, in Hokkaido, Japan, second daughter of Kenjiro Sakamoto and Teruko Nakagawa. She was the loving wife of Bill (deceased) for 60 interesting years.  Fujie and Bill met in Hokkaido in 1951 and married later that year, eventually moving to Michigan in 1953.  In addition to being a hairstylist, she was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, cook and avid fitness guru.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her son Kenny White, and her eldest sister, Kayoko Sakamoto. She is survived by her brother, Koichi Sakamoto, and his wife, Yuriko Sakamoto, and her younger sister, Yoko Ohta, and her husband, Tomio Ohta, all residing in Japan.

She is survived by her children, Jerri White-Haskins (Scott Haskins), Phyllis Grimm, and David White (Faye), grandchildren and great-grandchildren (noted below). She was a proud Nana to Lindsey Haskins-Brubaker (Chris Brubaker), Jeremy Haskins, Lexi Haskins, Lucas Grimm (Alia), Whitney Haron (Jon), Mitchell Grimm, Sierra Grimm, Josh White (Kathleen Gorski), and Megan White, and great-Nana to Nika and Mia Grimm.

There is no memorial service per Fujie’s wishes. She will be cremated and interred next to her husband Bill’s ashes above son Kenny’s. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Okasan, Your heavenly Father had need of you, that’s why you are no longer with us. Abba Father keeps His promise “no more tears” “no more pain” and a new body. . And you are with my brother Kenny and your husband.

I have always admired your beauty and grace, since I was a little girl. Your quietness spoke volumes. You will be missed.
