Fredrick Orin Barnard

Age 89, of Lansing, MI, passed away Friday, 4/8/16. He was born to Maude and Cornelius Barnard on 12/24/26. He was one of seven siblings. Fred attended Technical High School in Lansing, graduating 6/45. Upon graduation he was inducted into the US Navy. He served at Subic Bay, Luzon. Fred continued his education at TRI State College, Acme School of Design. He was hired by Oldsmobile and began work as a Draftsman and later progressed to work as a Senior Production Engineer in the Sheet Metal and Die Division.

Fred and Caroline Sendzik were united in marriage on 5/27/50. They had two daughters, Sandra Barnard (Daniel) Williams of Marshall, MI and Cynthia Joy Barnard of Lansing, MI, and granddaughter Blair (fiancé Matthew Brindley) Williams. Fred loved his family and church. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and constructing stain glass projects.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, 4/15/16, at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing, MI 48906. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial is at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, 4108 Old Lansing Road, Lansing, MI 48917. Lunch will be supplied at the church afterward. Arrangements by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Fred, to Emanuel First Evangelical Church.

I am so sorry to hear about Fred. Lord be with him always. May the Lord be with you always, and give you strength. Sorry I couldn’t be at the funeral. God bless you all.

So sorry to hear about Fred’s passing. He was one of my earliest Sunday school teachers over at Emanuel Lutheran Church back in the late fifties. My sympathies and condolences go out to the family.
