Frederick V. Tabor
Precious husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2013, at age 85, surrounded by his loving family. “Friendly Freddie” was born October 26, 1927 in Lansing, Michigan, to Aaron and Francis Ruth Tabor.
Fred graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1945 and then served in the Army as a staff sergeant from 1945 to 1948. He married his sweetheart and lifelong soul mate Dee Harder in 1951. Fred had a smile that warmed your heart and a booming laugh that filled a room. He was a genuine man who always let you know where he stood. Fred loved to golf, hunt, fish, and play cards with his family and many wonderful friends. He loved going to the cottage on MacGilvery Lake to Bluegill fish and spend time with family and friends. Fred was a dedicated member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church and served in many capacities over the years. Fred retired from General Motors after 35 years of service.
Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores; sons, Fred (Miriam) Tabor, Doug Tabor, and John (Karen) Tabor; 6 grandchildren; 17 1/2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane (Robert) Pease and Jean Roath; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing, MI 48906, with Pastor Paul J. Lindloff officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and for 1 hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church.
