Ewald Kelbert

Lansing, Michigan.

Born September 12, 1929, in Germany, son of the late Gottlieb and Julliane (Harwart) Kelbert was called to his Heavenly home Saturday, June 30, 2018, at age 88.

Ewald moved from Germany to the U.S. in 1954.  He was a longtime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, and worked at Fisher Body for General Motors for 22 years.

Ewald was the husband to Charlotte Kelbert his wife of 66 years, whom preceded him in death in 2017. He was the father to children, Ingrid (Peter) Shurn, Doris (Randy) Stine, and Randy (Debi) Kelbert; a grandfather to, Heather Steel, Chris Stine, Alicia Schmidt, Amanda Dixon, Alexis Kelbert, and Mitchell Smith as well as great-grandfather to, Audrey, Eli, Malachi, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jay, and Daniel.  Ewald is also survived by sisters Lydia Mahon, Hannelore Thelemann, and Irma Schröder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte; sons, Michael Kelbert, and Hartmut “Hop” Kelbert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with Pastor Paul J. Lindloff offciating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in memory of Ewald, to Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing.
