Evelyn Elaine McClure

Bellaire, formerly of Holt

Mrs. Evelyn Elaine Remainder McClure, daughter of the late Arthur and Rachel Rosser Remainder, was born February 29, 1920, in St. Charles, Michigan. She attended and was a 1937 graduate of the St. Charles Union Public Schools.  Evelyn was also a graduate of Saginaw Beauty School and opened Elaine’s Beauty Shop in St. Charles enjoying her cosmetology profession for over 20 years.

Evelyn was a dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist church throughout her life.  As an active member she faithfully supported Children’s Ministries, served as a Deaconess, and volunteered for over 25 years at the Lansing Community Service Center and Food Pantry. Though reserved, her warm smile broke through barriers and comforted those in need.

She married Stanley Alexander McClure on July 12, 1941.  They were blessed with three children, Marilyn, Brenda, and Ron. Their lives significantly changed in 1967, upon moving to Holt, Michigan, to provide their son with exceptional learning opportunities. Evelyn took a position as a medical secretary in 1968, and worked for Dr. John Tilden until her retirement in 1985.

Stanley preceded her in death on June 13, 2012, after nearly 71 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas and Henry (Tubby) Remainder, and beloved sister, Margaret Remainder Schlager.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Marilyn Rae McClure, Brenda McClure Bartel, Ron Curtis McClure, and Harvey E. Bartel; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald C. Schlager; dear family friends, Marvin and Judy Anderson and Donald and Jeanne Robinson, as well as, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020, at the Lansing Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5400 W. St. Joseph Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917.  Burial will follow in Leek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday for 1 hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions, in loving memory of Evelyn, may be made to the Michigan Special Olympics Area 8 or the Lansing Seventh-day Adventist Church Community Service Center. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

WORDS OF APPRECIATION

Our family would like to thank Meadow Brook Care Facility Staff, Bellaire, MI for their loving kindness and care.  To our friends and family, we are grateful for your love and the attention shown to our Mother, especially in these last few years.  We will miss her dearly and daily; however, we pray each of us will be ready as we anxiously await Jesus’ return and dwell forever.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39”

I have never in my life seen such unconditional love from a kinder soul. Grandma was always in your corner know matter what happened! She fought so hard to stick around for her family for so many years and it would be selfish to have had her try to hold on any longer. We are so blessed to have had her in our life. Rest easy Grammy, we shall see you again!!

Many fond memories of your Mother and Grandmother. She was always very nice to me and I will always remember one time when I had some money stolen from me in high school, she gave me the money to replace what had been stolen. Always a wonderful person. She will be missed by many.

We have been so blessed to gain Grandma McClure as a part of our family when her grand daughter Deanna married our son Brian. Evelyn was a warm, loving, intelligent and gracious Christian woman and it was indeed an honor to know and love her. We will miss her dearly for now while looking forward to our reunion when Jesus returns.

It is with a sad and heavy heart fir the passing on Evelyn – she was a lifetime friend of our family and always a Mother figure to me. My heart breaks for her children and Grand children. I pray GOD will wrap HIS arms around each of you as you deal with this void in your everyday. I especially ask GOD hold Brenda and Ron and lead them each day to comfort. We know that we will see Evelyn in the Promise Land and what a glorious day that will be. I thank GOD for having her in my lifr. RIP dear friend of mine.
