Esther M. Dalrymple

Lansing

Born in Stoneham, MA, on February 16, 1934, to the late Esther M. and Clifford C. Ham, Sr. Passed away on November 19, 2017, at age 83.

Esther received her bachelor’s degree from Bates College and her master’s from MSU. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Lansing School District for her entire career. She was a docent/tour guide at the Capitol building for 20 years, and was a very active member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. Along with her husband, Esther taught ballroom dancing on cruise ships for a number of years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, collecting recipes and cooking, and gardening.

Surviving Esther are her loving husband of 60 years, Lee; her children, Scott (Athena) Dalrymple of Maryland, Melanie Dalrymple of Michigan, and Amy (Jimmy) Carter of Ohio; 4 grandchildren, David, Keegan, Sarah, and Richard; and her sister, Priscilla “Bunny” Alexander.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

For some reason Esther came into my mind today. So I googled her and was sorry to read this!

Esther was my 1st EVER student teaching supervisor, while I was studying Elementary Education at MSU. This would have been in 1982-ish

She was the most loving, calm and supportive professional!!! I was so lucky to find her so early in my career path

Esther had an impact on my life. I just want any remaining family members to know that
