In memory of the Rock of her family, we want to praise God for giving this woman to Michael J. Austin and her family. She was a precious wife, loving mother, special grandmother, loving foster mother, and a very precious human being; and we offer to God her loving spirit. Elmie was born January 28, 1955, in Lansing, to Elmer and Arlene Wright. She went to be with her Lord on May 31, 2016, at the age of 61.
Elmie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael Austin; daughter, Melissa (Mark) Fischer; son, Ian Michael Austin; grandchildren, Chase Michael Lucas and Gage Riley McConnell; brother, Terry Dale Mulder; sister, Cynthia Jean Velez; nephews and nieces, Rob (Susan), Rick (Debra) and Eric (Michelle) Mulder, Teri (Austin) Robison, Temi Sewell, Ty Corey (Michelle) Grams, Tod (Sarah) Grams, Julie McNeely, Brian (Darlene) Velez, Amy Velez and Andrew Velez; many great nieces and nephews, as well as multiple foster children. She was preceded in death by her parents her sister, Dalene Grams; and sister-in-law, Doris Mulder.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. Deborah Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, and 30 minutes prior to the funeral service on Friday.
