Age 85, of Lansing, passed away on March 21, 2012. She was born in Detroit on September 14, 1926 the daughter of Howard and Grace Lisle.
She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church where she was a member of many committees, including Bylaws, Deacons, Board of Trustees, and Fine Arts. She was a graduate of J. W. Sexton High School; and earned her degree from Purdue University in 1948 where she was a member Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a Past President of Junior League and Sparrow Hospital Guild; a member and Honoree of the Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers receiving her 45-year award for Sparrow Volunteerism; a longstanding member of the Country Club of Lansing. Among Betsy’s activities, she loved to travel having been to all 50 states and 6 of 7 continents. Her real hobby was playing golf, having scored a hole-in-one and bridge at the Country Club of Lansing, and the Lansing Symphony Organization.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Rex; children, Elizabeth “Lisa” (David) Lang of Columbus, MO, Julie Sessions Austin of Milford, MI, Rex L. (Barbara) Sessions of Chicago; and 7 grandchildren, Cortney (Zach) Mendenhall, Lindsey (Frank) Lang-Fleshner, Andrew Lang all of Kansas City, MO, Patrick Austin of Milford, MI, Jordan (Tom) Brushfield of Melbourne, Australia, Isabel and Zachary Sessions of Chicago.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 E. Grand River, Lansing, with The Rev. Joy A. Baumgartner and The Rev. David T. Bandfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betsy’s name to Plymouth Congregational Church. Arrangements by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
