Eleni Sandick
Age 85, of Lansing, MI, passed away March 28, 2017. Eleni was born October 4, 1931, in Athens, Greece. She was a certified nurse for the Red Cross in Greece and worked at the U.S. Air Force base in Athens. Eleni moved to the U.S. in the late 1970s. She attended Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and volunteered for seniors. Eleni loved cooking and her family. She would always support and encourage her son and grandchildren. Eleni was a generous person who would give to others and expect nothing in return, but most of all, she was an incredibly, unconditionally giving and loving mother.
She is survived by her beloved son, Vasilios Haveles (Nancy Diaz); three loving grandchildren, Yanni Haveles, Eleni Haveles and Dimitri Haveles; as well as her brother, Alexandros Papadoupoulos.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, with a Trisagion service at 5:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
