Elena B. “Helen” Maysonet

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt at age 94 passed away January 19, 2023. She was born April 24, 1928 in Rockspring, Texas. Elena worked at Barons Window Coverings for 15 years as a Drapery Maker.

She loved spending time with family, crocheting, going outside to tend her flowers, going for walks and at times garage sales. She was a loving person with a heart of gold.

Surviving are her children: Humberto (Silvia) Maysonet, Jesse Maysonet, Maria Estela (Joe) Hebda and Graciela (Frank) Laurich; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and sister Virginia Flores, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Elena was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Maria Benavides, her husband of 53 years Jesus A. Maysonet; and siblings Rodolfo Benavides, David Benavides, Tony Benavides, Ofilia Reyner, and Hector Benavides.

Her family will receive family and friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, MI 48933 with Fr. Bill Lugger as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

A special thank you from her children is given to Grandhaven Living Center and Hospice of Lansing who provided warmth and loving care in her last months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lansing in memory of Elena Maysonet.

Awe…I’m so sorry to hear Tià has passed away. I have very found memories of her and the family. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Please accept my condolences and know I am praying for all my family during this time.
