Eleanor Miteff

Lansing, Michigan.

The beloved Eleanor, at age 87, passed away peacefully with her family at her side June 6, 2013. Eleanor was born is Sofia, Bulgaria. In her teen years she moved to Germany where she met and married the love of her life, Penju Miteff, her husband of 66 years. They immigrated to the United States in 1951.

Eleanor was well known for cooking delicious ethnic foods and pastries. She was a devout member of St. Andrew Eastern Orthodox Church were her family had been founding members. She was also a member of the American Bulgarian Macedonian Association, and Liederkrantz. Eleanor was also known for and was appreciated for helping new immigrants after their arrival to this country.

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Otto and Nada Bauer, and brother Alexander Bauer. She is survived by husband Penju; sister, Luba Bauer; children, Margaret (John) McCamant, Nadja (Dennis) Lehman, Vanie (John) Brown, Steve (Evonne Garman) Miteff, and Ganie Miteff; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

“The family would like to thank mom’s caregivers during her illness, especially the staff of Sparrow Hospital and Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.”

The family is being served by Estes Leadley Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel with visitation Tuesday June 11, 2013 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Panikhida service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Orthodox Church, 1216 Greencrest, East Lansing, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
