Elaine Scott (Tycocki) Fowler
Elaine Scott (Tycocki) Fowler, 79, beloved mother, grandmother, and self-made business woman, died peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, October 23, 2025 in East Lansing. Elaine was born February 19, 1946 in Lansing, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Scott) Haire. She graduated from Lansing Everett High School in 1964 and soon after started her family. Elaine was a hard worker. Despite never earning a college degree, and becoming a single mother, her ambition and people skills led her to excel in her career. In the early years, Elaine worked in hospitality with Longs Convention Center in Lansing and eventually played a central role in opening the Clarion Hotel on that site. She then moved into the healthcare field with PHP Health before settling into her career with SEMCO Energy, eventually retiring as the Director of Governmental Affairs.
Elaine enjoyed thirty-five happy years alongside her companion and love of her life, Laurence D. “Larry” Fowler. They eventually married before Larry’s death in 2016. Together, Larry and Elaine wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida, where she flourished in the warm weather, enjoying rollerblading and time on the beaches.
Elaine is survived by her sons, David (Elizabeth) Tycocki and Timothy Tycocki; grandchildren, Ben and Hannah Letzer and Victor (Ashley) Harwood; great-grandson, Ezra Monroe Harwood; cousin, Gary (Debbie) Scott of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, Lisa Tycocki, Lori O’Keefe and Penelope Perry-Goldstein; and nephew, Michael (Pearl) Perry. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Fowler and her sister, Mary Jo Perry.
