Elaine May Anderson

Elaine May Anderson (Motchek) died March 8, 2017, in Traverse City, Michigan, at the age of 87.  Elaine was born on May 13, 1929, in Lansing, Michigan, to John and Gladys Motchek.  She and her sister Virginia spent many years on Riley Street in Lansing and at Torch Lake.

She was married to Richard J. Anderson (Jerry) in 1950, together having two sons, Mark and David.  David Scott Anderson predeceased his mother and is survived by his wife Yvonne and two sons, Sean and Adam.  Mark A. Anderson married Karen L. Krueger and together they had one son, Matthew, and raised Karen’s two daughters, Kyle Garlitz and Andrea Parsons.

Elaine retired from Michigan National Bank on September 30, 1994, after 11 years of service in the vault area.  She immediately moved to Pensacola, Florida, where she spent 14 years visiting the ocean frequently which she greatly enjoyed.  Elaine returned to Michigan in 2006, and moved to the Traverse City area where she could enjoy views of northern Michigan lakes and Torch Lake in particular where she was raised.  She was a great mother and friend and she will be greatly missed by all those whom she touched during her lifetime.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
