I met Ed 44 years ago at United Parcel Service morning sort. He is definitely on the top of many of lists as far as honest, respected ,intelligence and just a good person to call friend. He had a laugh that was unmistakable and shared by him often. He will be deeply missed.

I last saw Ed just two months ago at the East Lansing Film Festival. He attended the screening of my film, and I was shocked and pleased to see him. I cherish my memory of our hug and connection that evening. Ed was the “UPS guy” for my husband’s store Flat, Black & Circular, and continued to patronize the business after retirement. Ed’s laugh will be remember by all who loved him. What an amazing human being.
Condolences to his daughters and those who remained close to him.

Ed was one of a kind. We met back in the 80’s and worked together at UPS. Our most recent encounters have been on the river trail where I would see him walking. Ed and his infectious personality and laugh will be remembered forever. My sincerest condolences to his family.

One of the perks to being the wife to a UPS driver is meeting the coworkers. My favorite was meeting Eddie-what a wonderful human being! You are with Jesus and we will miss you till we see you in heaven dear man! He spoke so lovingly about his daughters.

The wave of shock and sadness has been washing over our Lansing community, since hearing of Ed’s passing. Many of us knew through music, as well as his UPS years. He was a major supporter and fan of many genres, but he could always been seen at local Blues and Jazz events and festivals. He helped SO many, volunteered always and brought his boundless joy to everything he attended. He would be stunned at how many of us are feeling such deep sadness that our world has lost one of its best.

John is down in Arkansas helping his brother recover from surgery. When I called him to tell him the news we both broke down. Whenever we saw Ed he always asked about our kids and where they are. Heaven gained an angel. Ed….tell Rick Hughes and Mike Minarik hi….. what a loss..

I was very sad to hear of Ed’s passing yesterday. I met him back in 2008 when I worked on the Jazz and Blues festivals with him in Old Town. We worked together quite a few years and it was always a pleasure to see his smiling face. He knew how to make people feel at ease and let go of the stress. I was one of the lucky ones to have known him. This is a great loss for our community. My sincere condolences to his family.

He always had a big smile and an infectious laugh and made you feel better just knowing him. I will truly miss him and am glad I had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace Ed. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. God bless!

I met Ed when we worked together at Horrocks Farm Market. Ed became the “Mayor” of Horrocks, where he always had a way of making you feel good to be alive. We shared some memorable times, like when he introduced me to Robert Cray! One of the nicest, warmest people I have known.

Ed and I started at UPS about the same time. His big, warm, smile and ready laugh, were a joy. So friendly and personable. Genuinely concerned about doing things right and treating people well. He was truly a pleasure. I will never forget him.

Whatever Eddie was
Has been in the world a long time
A certain depth of soul
Of heart and mind
Somehow larger than life
As if what we hope to be
Was already there in
Our Eddie

So much gratitude we owe
To one who gave it all
Made us awaken and smile
Like a sudden ray of Sun
Into our lives
Always here
Our Eddie

Edward! We grew up together in the Brewster Projects in Detroit. We lived in the fourteen stories. We all went to Bishop Grade/Elementary School. Edward and his sister, Irma! Wow! The memories. Edward was so sweet, quiet and kind. I was delighted we found each other at Michigan State University. Saw him at the Student Union, on the Que’s line, performing. Such good, happy times. RIP my friend.

I always enjoyed the time I got to spend talking to Ed each day. He was very optimistic of life and people and that is such a valuable quality that we don’t always see these days. He was wise and helpful while enjoying all the company around him.
I considered him a good friend and will miss him dearly and will continue to think of him and our valuable time we were able to share together.

I first met Ed at our business Bob’s Marathon in Grand Ledge. We serviced Ed’s car and it wasn’t long and we had his mother and his sisters business. I loved being around Ed & his family. We had a lot of laughs with Ed. He was a genuine guy and a great representative for UPS. We will miss Ed but every time I think of him it will be with a smile. Rest in peace sweet man.

I was so saddened to hear of Ed’s passing. Sending condolences to his family and friends.

I will never forget one time we both were at Gregory’s and he asked me to dance. I was sucking on a Lifesaver and began choking. Ed started patting me on the back and and he stopped me from choking. Every time I saw him, I called him My Lifesaver and we would laugh.

We loved having Ed as our UPS guy at Grand Ledge High School. He brightened up everyone’s day when he walked in the door. His smile would light up the entire front office. It was always good to see him. Gone too soon.
