Dorothy (King) Dickerson

Dorothy Irene King Dickerson, age 93, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Life Care Center in Centerville, Tennessee.

Dorothy was born on July 1, 1926, in Indiana, to the late C. Bradley and the late Ethel Lyons. She was a woman of many talents, one of which was being an incredible mother. Writing, especially poetry, was her favorite past-time. She wrote many works that amount to stacks and stacks of her written legacy. During her children’s early years, she even wrote her own bedtime stories to share and read with them. She also loved to draw, draft her ideas, and had a great gift of interior design. Her home always looked like a picture out of Better Homes and Gardens. She enjoyed playing the piano as well. She was a firm Christian of the Baptist faith. But her faith was demonstrated, not merely by attending church, but by her kindness to others.

Dorothy is survived by: her children, Denis King of Michigan, Joey King of Tennessee, Timothy King of Florida, Randy (Kathy) King of Florida, Tonia Speer of Michigan, and Teresa Sanders of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nelson King; son, David N. King; siblings, Raymond Bradley, Neal Bradley, James Bradley, Patricia Bradley and Faye Bradley.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Dorothy will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, with Nelson King and Ruby Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Dimondale, Michigan. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00.
