Doris Emma Wallace

Doris, 83, of Westphalia, Michigan, passed away on September 20, 2018.  She was born on January 10, 1935, in St. Johns, Michigan, to Opal (Mundell) and William Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward Wallace. She is survived by her two children, Greg (Leesa) Wallace of Lansing, MI and Darcy (Doug) Maynard of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandchildren, John Wallace, Carlee and Brody Maynard; sister, Virginia Mackey; and sisters-in-law, Judy (Bob) Ranney and Lois Wallace.

Edward and Doris were married on September 6, 1958, in Lansing, Michigan, where they raised their 2 children. In 1998, they moved to Westphalia, Michigan.  She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first.  Prior to starting their family, she worked at Oldsmobile. She worked for the Lansing School District Food Service for 20 years before retiring in 1994.

She loved to travel the western states with her family.  After retirement, she and Ed enjoyed a float trip down the Salmon River, horseback trips in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and hiking in Yellowstone National Park.  She also enjoyed spending time at their cabin in northern Michigan.  She loved the outdoors and tending to her lawn and garden.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
