Doris B. Headley McKinch

Age 91, of Lansing, MI, passed away June 10, 2018. She was born March 4, 1927, on Lime Island, MI, to the late Dora and Wilford Stevenson.

Doris was a mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother to many. Her children include Jim (Emily), Don (Patricia), Larry (Marcia), and Jeff (Pam) Headley, and Marybeth (Bill) Chasse. Grandchildren: Jamilee (Tim) Coen, Alex (Kathlyn), Nick, Daniel, Josh, Brendan (Kira), Jordyn (Trevor), Matthew, Michael (Stacey) Headley, Jake (Kassandra), Zack, Cody Chasse.

Doris remarried Vaughan McKinch on June 6, 1980. Along with Vaughan came an additional four children, more beautiful grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Cindy (Harley) VanDorsal, Terry (Linda) McKinch, Coleen (Travis) Weger, and Cheryl McKinch. Grandchildren: Cher Marie, Dakota (Brian), Taylor, Amanda, Debra, Tim, Tammy (Larry), and Christina (Josh).

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Hayden Headley (1970), sisters Marylou Illingworth and Virginia Roell, and sister-in-law Deanna McKinch.

Doris’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews have been a large part of her life. The family would like to thank all of them for the visits, the grocery shopping, and errands ran on her behalf. A special thank you to Sheryl Brazee (great-niece) who lovingly cared for her over the last few months. A shout out to Harry’s Place for always treating them well and frying her fish just right and for our extended Ruedisale brothers for being her personal escort to and from her car. It truly takes a village, and we are blessed to have the one we do.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the DAV or St. Vincent Catholic Charities.
