Doris E. Weaver

Doris Ellen (North) Weaver, a lifelong resident of Lansing, died Friday, October 5, 2018, at the age of 95. Doris was born August 4, 1923. She was the descendant of Lansing founding father Henry Harrison North and was the daughter of Clement Harrison and Bessie Estella (Twichell) North. She was the valedictorian of Dimondale High School class of 1941. She was a gifted athlete, avid sports fan, and gardener. Doris was married to U.S. Navy veteran Kenneth George Weaver on January 15, 1946.

Doris was predeceased by her husband; children, Kay Gloria Weaver and Barry Gene Weaver; and siblings, Marian (Polzien), Vera (Richardson), Harold, Roy, and Fred. She is survived by daughters Wilda Eileen (Charles) Rowe and Elaine Edna (William) Hagen; eight nephews; two nieces; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 12. The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mount Hope Ave., Lansing, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, with a private burial following the service. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to send donations to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Women (B.E.L.C.W.) or the Leader Dogs for the Blind (located in Rochester, MI).

Willda and Elaine I am sorry to hear about your Mother’s passing. She was a wonderful person and I can still hear laugh and see her big smile.I will keep all of you in my prayers. God Bless.
