Delores A. Karkau

Grand Ledge, Michigan

Delores, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 91, passed away July 28, 2021. She was born June 29, 1930, in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Dee had a giving spirit. She loved to buy toys for children in need, crocheted many blankets, bonnets and booties for unwed moms, and donated often to the food bank. She also loved to dance and sing. Dee was a longtime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Nancy) Karkau, Peggy (Martin) Pangburn, Dennis (Robin) Karkau, and Ron Karkau; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Emil Karkau, whom she married two weeks before she turned 17, and their infant son, Timothy Karkau.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing. Her family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
