Delores Ann “Dee” Flower

Delores “Dee” Ann (Shady) Flower of Lansing, MI age 86, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on January 1, 2024. Dee was born on June 4, 1937, in Lansing, Michigan to the late Clayton and Willo (Brugger) Shady. Dee was a graduate of Lansing Everett High School, and she married the love of her life, Rodger A. Flower on June 29th 1956. Along with raising their daughters, Dee worked as the Office Manager at Lansing Pediatric Associates for over 43 years, a job that she absolutely loved, until her retirement. She will be remembered by her family and friends, as a kind and loving person who was quick with a smile and laugh. Dee could always be counted on to host dinners, celebrations and vacations that provided countless memories that we will cherish forever. Delores was known for baking her perfect pies and wonderful family meals. She took up hobbies like skiing and golf later in life, and loved to travel and read, but mostly she enjoyed any time that included her family and friends gathered together. Dee was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pauline Shady. She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Rodger Flower, her daughters, Kathi (Cameron) Bogle, Jeanine (Mark Clayton) Flower, and Michelle (Timothy) Crook, and her four grandsons Ryan Bogle, Jacob Clayton, Zachary Crook, and Josh Crook. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. I’m find it difficult finding the words to describe what a wonderful friend Dee has been to Jan and me. We can take heart in knowing she has earned and received her wings. Much peace to Rodger and family as they go through this extremely challenging time. Stay strong.

Dee was such a kind caring person. Whenever I called or took my kids into Dr. Knickerbocker’s office she always went over and above to give caring concern & support . She even called my mother in law once to let her know that I was following exactly what Dr. Knick had told me to do. Praying for your family.

It broke my heart when I learned that Dee had passed. She was the kindest neighbor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Both she and Rodger have been wonderful to know. Our sincere condolences to the entire family. The neighborhood won’t be the same without her.

Dee has been in my life as a client and a friend well over 1/2 of my life. She honestly felt more like family to me and I will miss her dearly. She was one of the only people I knew who could recommend a great restaurant and it would legitimately be a GREAT restaurant. Family events and traveling took up most of our conversation time as I saw her and Rodger religiously every 4 weeks for 36 years. Her kids and grandkids were truly her biggest joy and I know she will continue to be their biggest cheerleader and guiding Angel. Dee’s spirit will be felt for a long time to come and I hope you all can find peace in her physical absence because I know she wouldn’t want anyone to be sad on her behalf.

Roger I don’t know if you will remember me but we grew up together in Millet and worked together in tool room. I am very sorry to hear of your wife’s death. Want you to know my thoughts are with you. I and my wife have been married 72 years and I can’t imagine it being.
