Deborah Ann Mangum

Deborah Ann (Zieroff) Mangum, age 72, of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away on May, 19, 2021. Deborah was born November 28, 1948, to Robert and Persis Ann (Pine) Zieroff in Toledo, Ohio. She earned an Associate’s Degree from Stautzenberger College and soon thereafter married the love of her life, Joseph Mangum.

Debi worked outside the home early and later in life, and also spent many years raising her family and volunteering to work with special needs children and various charitable organizations, including Hospice and Meals on Wheels. Debi loved to spend time with family, gathering everyone together at every holiday, and spending summer vacations together with extended family at Gun Lake, as well as slipping down to Shipshewana at every chance with her sisters and mother.

Art was another of Debi’s passions. She delighted in drawing and stencils, and was especially known for designing greetings cards to brighten her friend’s days! One would certainly know the holidays were approaching when they received one of Debi’s beautiful handmade Christmas cards in the mail.

Debi was a woman of strong faith and she valued her church family and friendships. She was a member of First Christian Church and later Huron Christian Church of Ypsilanti.

Debi struggled with her health over the past several years, but she always remained hopeful and positive. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers that provided care to Debi, including Hospice House of Mid Michigan. A heartfelt and special thank you to Debi’s sister, Sue Pasztor, who’s loving care allowed her and Joe to remain safely at home for many years.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ann Zieroff, and her husband of 52 years, Joe. Left to cherish her memory are son Bryan (Mary) Mangum and daughter Terry (Steve) Zvonar; grandchildren, Christopher Mangum, Ethan Grant, Joshua Mangum, Katelyn Habetler, Benjamin Habetler, Zachary Zvonar and Zoie Zvonar; sisters, Sue (Steve) Pasztor and Cathy (Mike) Switzer; brother, Bill (Kay) Zieroff; and many nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. A celebration of life is planned for Debi and Joe on Saturday, July 17 (venue and time TBD). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. www.EstesLeadley.com
