Dean Arthur “Skip” Tarry

Dean "Skip" TarryDean Arthur “Skip” Tarry, 80 of Grand Ledge, Michigan and St Ignace, Michigan, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 27, 2024.  Born June 29, 1943 in Lansing, he was the son of Mary (Terry) and Raymond Tarry, and the proud father of four daughters, Pilar, Dylana, Carrie and Deanna.

A chiropractor in the Grand Ledge community for over 45 years, he found fulfillment caring for his many patients while trading stories and wisdom by the woodburning stove.  Skip loved to fish and ride motorcycles, especially in the woods of the U.P. where he felt most at home.  He never met an open road that didn’t call to him, often with the voice of Bob Seger.  His list of “projects” was endless.  There was no home repair he wouldn’t tackle.  He believed a rousing game of cribbage could cure most ills, and rooting for MSU was a contact sport.  He loved a fish fry, especially if it was whitefish.  He was strong-willed and lived life on his terms, with a great capacity for generosity and kindness.  His family and friends already miss him dearly.

He is survived by his four daughters; sons-in-law; and six grandchildren, Elijah Curtis, Robert Brandsen, Asher Curtis, Jane Charest, Nora Charest and Taylor Wysack, and by many other family, friends and former patients.

In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service will be held, although a campfire will be lit in his honor on a Lake Huron beach later this summer.  Memorial contributions may be made in Skip’s name to Little Bear East Arena & Community Center, 275 Marquette St, St. Ignace, MI  49781; or to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S. Cochran Road, Charlotte, MI 48813.

Im so sorry to have learned this today. I knew your dad from my husband Everett and remember you girls when you were very little and living with your mom in downtown Portland. We had a lot of good memories. He was also the best man in our wedding. I know he was very proud of his girls.
