Dean Hull

Dean Edward Hull, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2026. He was born on January 10, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan, to Donald “Ed” and Marlene Hull.

Dean graduated from Holt High School in 1977, where he excelled as a three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and track. While he earned accolades in all three sports, it was his talent on the football field that led him to Bowling Green State University, where he proudly played for the Falcons from 1977 to 1981. The friendships, memories, and stories from those years remained some of his most cherished throughout his life.

After college, Dean embarked on what would become a lifetime of entrepreneurial pursuits. He launched his first cleaning business in Columbus, Ohio, before returning to Lansing to join the family business, Hull’s Professional Cleaning. Dean went on to pursue numerous ventures over the years, including State Electronics, and several other successful businesses. He remained actively involved in these ventures until his final days.

What Dean truly loved in life were the friendships he made. He was magnetic, knew how to live life to the fullest, and had an easygoing nature that drew people in. He never knew a stranger. The countless relationships he built throughout his life filled his days with stories, laughter, and unforgettable memories. His friendships were among his greatest treasures, and he was the kind of friend everyone hoped to have.

Of all the roles Dean played in life, none meant more to him than being a father and grandfather. He leaves behind his daughter, Alisa (Andrew) Hoffman and the absolute joys of his life, his grandchildren, Cooper and Logan Hoffman. Whether it was attending their sporting events, teaching them how to fish and BBQ, making them laugh, or simply spending time together, being “Papa Dean” was the greatest title he ever had. Dean is also survived by his brothers, Dan (Kristy) Hull and Dennis (Mary) Hull; his sister, Denise Hull; his former wife and lifelong friend, Deborah Hull; his longtime partner, Rebecca Lenon; Rebecca’s children, Kenneth (Stephanie) Johnson and Jessica (Matthew) Spindler; and her grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Big D,” Hailey and Katelyn Spindler, and CJ and Violet Johnson. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who became family. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marlene Hull, and his nieces, Jennifer Tarbell and Lily Rose Gemalsky.

Visitation will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel (325 W Washtenaw St, Lansing) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026 – with livestream.  Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Eagle Eye Golf Course for what Dean would have wanted most: a great party!
