David E. Eaton

David E. Eaton died peacefully at home on Friday, October 29, 2010.  He was born on March 16, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA.  David was an Administrative Manager, for the Michigan Medicaid Program.

He is survived by his wife of one year, Sheila Eaton; his children, Mary Frances, James Peter (Terri), Rahima Ann, John Edwin (Cecile Lamb), William David (Sandy Conner); his stepchildren, Jane (Tucker) Gunneman, Lynn Myrant, Gail Verway (Stuart Cohen); his grandchildren, Matthew Dankert (Sarah), David Dankert (Laurie), Daniel Eaton and Rachel Eaton; his stepgrandchildren, Heather and Tyler (Kelsey) Gunneman, Justin and Jodie Hile, Amy, Eric, and Zoey Verway-Cohen; his great-grandchildren, Jordanne and Brody Dankert, Megan Dankert; his step-great-grandchild, Isabella Hile; his sister-in-law, Margaret Eaton; nieces, Elizabeth Holban, Janet Lapp; nephew, Bruce Eaton (Joan Farr); and his special friends, David and Betty Underwood, Stan and Linda Fedewa.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erminie Stripe Eaton; brothers, Robert M. Eaton and Marvin Eaton; and his sister Barbara Eaton.

David was a veteran of World War II serving in Japan.  Professionally, he was involved in several aspects of health care, working in hospital labs, and in health care administration.  He was the former Treasurer and active member of the Michigan Capital Area Celiac/DH Group.  He was a lifelong reader of all genres and a lifelong supporter of Democratic Party politics.  He was also a loving and generous father and stepfather.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Capital Area Celiac/DH Group, Attn. Nicholas DeWolf, P.O. Box 23222, Lansing, MI 48909.
