David C. Mulford
Age 99, of Lansing, MI, passed away January 19, 2017. He was born May 22, 1917, in St. Louis, MI, to the late Emery and Nettie Mulford.
David proudly served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He retired from General Motors, was a member of the American Legion Buck Reasoner Post #238 in Holt and a life member of Pennway Church of God.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana “Dina” (David) DeNike of Charlotte; stepchildren, Verlene (Gene) Ritter of East Lansing and Audalene Dean of Mason; and numerous grandchildren on through great-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, and three sisters, Celia, Ruth and Beatrice.
David’s family would like to thank Vista Springs Edgewood and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for the wonderful care afforded to their father.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh, Lansing, with Pastor John Davey and Pastor Doug Irving officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and again at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.

January 23, 2017 at 7:23 pmMy Mother, Mary Lou also lives at Vista Springs and knew of David. Sometimes she cut out articles from her northern michigan newspaper that she thought he may be interested in as he was always out in the common area reading. (or singing) !
Today we came back from a Dr visit and there several of David’s belongings that were being donated sitting on a table. Mom chose a small embroidered coaster and brought it back to her room.
As I was hanging up her coat and getting her settled in, I turn around and she has David’s coaster sitting on the table next to a glass angel and turned on the little flicker light in a small vase as a remembrance to him. I just thought that it was so sweet and the family needs to know he will be missed! RIP David

January 24, 2017 at 7:24 amThank you Patty for your comment. Everybody at Vista Springs loved my dad. We miss his singing! Three days before his passing he was still singing “You are my Sunshine”. And he always had his newspaper, so I sent off with one. He definitely will be missed by everyone. And Patty, give Mary Lou a hug for me…
