David Dean "Dave" Zuker

Dave ZukerDavid Dean “Dave” Zuker, of Williamston, MI, passed away on July 18, 2016, at the age of 62. He was born on March 19, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan, to Russ and Arlene (Henslee) Zuker.

Dave was in the Navy for several years; he worked out of the post office as an E.T for over twenty years, and retired in 2014. As a young person, he enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan, spending time at Zuker Tire, and being the drummer in a band. He loved various places all over Michigan, taking time to enjoy the natural beauty of our scenic state, fishing, kayaking, visiting numerous lighthouses, photography, and above all, time with his family. Following his retirement, Dave turned his passion for photography into a family business, Dave Zuker Photography, later Zuker Photography.

He is survived by his wife of over forty years, Lynn; and two daughters, Jennifer Zuker (Jeffrey Scull), Cristina (Cole) Whitehouse. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Ava, Corrina, Jonathen, Elliott and Phineas. He has three surviving siblings, Bill Zuker, Jeanne Zuker and Jerry Zuker. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his son, Jonathan Zuker.

A family gathering will be held at a later date; per Dave’s request there will not be a formal funeral or visitation. In lieu of flowers, please go spend time with your friends and family, give them a hug and remember tomorrow is never promised. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Although we haven’t kept in contact since shortly after high school, it was with great sadness we learned of Dave’s passing. Our prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow. May it give comfort to know that Dave will always be remembered but especially for the Generation Gap and all fun we had at band camp.

Dave will certainly be missed, but his struggles are over. I remember many happy times spent at the Lansing house with Dave, his siblings, and my siblings. My prayers go out to his family.

Dave was a proud father and grandfather who loved his family deeply. I enjoyed his photography and we were close on the Facebook site. He was my political buddy as we shared mutual views. Will always remember him and will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Zuker family.

Hi Dad, It’s been a week since you left this world behind, and although we all miss you everyday, I’m glad that you aren’t suffering from pain any more. I’m really happy for the time that we were able to spend together this past year and always.

I hope that you won’t mind my sharing, but near the end of your battle with cancer, you told Mom, “I’m not a teacher.” While it wasn’t your profession, you certainly were! As a father, you taught us so much. When I think of you, I think of these words: quiet, honest, generous, caring, and thoughtful. You shared your interests and gifts by teaching them to Mom, Cristina and I. You did your best to teach us about cars, fishing, music, computers, investing and photography! Among many other things, you taught us about love. I’m so sorry that cancer stole nearly everything from you in the last 14 months of your life, but it was beautiful to see your expression of love and appreciation of life.

I was reading through your e-mails to me over the past several years, and I found the game show one! Such a great idea. We definitely should do that, and we’ll think of you!

Love you so much, Dad!
