Danielle D. Martinez

Lansing, MI

At the age of 21, our loving daughter and sister passed away September 8, 2018. She was born January 25, 1997, in Lansing, to Robert and Gail Martinez.

Danielle played lacrosse for much of her school years. She graduated from Waverly High School in 2015 and attended LCC. She was a hard worker, always working multiple jobs and going to school full time. She somehow balanced it all. She was very particular about getting a pedicure and manicure every two weeks, and she always had her hair done and liked to look nice. She loved traveling, seeing family and going on adventures.

Danielle will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, Robert Martinez and Gail (Charles Ledesma) Martinez; maternal grandmother, JurRee Schneider; paternal grandparents, Jose and Enriqueta Martinez; sisters, Briana Martinez and Mindee Best; and many aunts, uncles and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her boyfriend, Jeremiah Diaz; her uncles, Jose Martinez and Charles Jegla; and grandfather, Clemens Schneider.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Fred Thelen at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 201 W. Miller Rd., Lansing. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society. Online condolences may be left for Danielle’s family at www.EstesLeadley.com

Another bright star has entered into Heavens. Our hearts are heavy after hearing of your loss. I have known the Martinez family for over 20 yrs. now living next door to Danielle’s grandparents. I remember first meeting a shy little 1 1/2 year old, but as the years passed and she grew Danielle and Briana became quite close friends with my children and were often found at our house when they were over visiting Jose and Henrietta. To the family I send our love and prayer and I know that you will all rally together as you always have and help each other through these times of need.
God bless you all

I was introduced to Danielle via Trish Herrick, our pedicurist, many years ago. Each time I’d encounter Danielle, I’d learn something different & fascinating this lovely young lady (at the time she was in high school). I’m honored to know such a beautiful young lady…she was not only beautiful on the outside but, most importantly, she was beautiful on the inside! I’m so very sad for myself and for all those who knew Danielle. To Danielle’s parents, sisters, and family members: Although I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting you, my heart breaks for ALL of you! You’re in my thoughts and prayers (Revelation 21:4)

You were the best dog walker ever … I loved it when your black impala would pull in the drive and you’d jump out and grab a ball from the garage and launch it across the back yard for me to retrieve … Although you made me mind, I loved going to the parks with you and Jeremiah and you’d let me off the leash to chase the squirrels and let me sniff around … You even took me to your work place and me being a girl too, I enjoyed seeing all of your friends and but I never figured out what a Salon was …No one gets to stay in this life forever so Danielle I will see you again on the other side someday … You were the best pal ever, Tori ….

Such a tragic loss of a young promising life. I’ve known this family for 25 plus years and cannot express my deepest heartfelt and tearful regret. Danielle was a go getter who took pride in being busy with her school and work. Her efforts and contributions toward the greater good highlight a young woman of character and the willingness to do the right things. She will be missed by many and loved by more. I will for sure miss seeing her at the ball park and her always questioning me about why certain players were in or out of the game. Made me laugh every time she would ask, she had other ideas !! I will miss this Sweet One..!!

Danielle, you were always too mature for your age, too beautiful for words, and too easy to talk to. I loved our conversations and the conversations and advice you gave to Amy. You are gone too soon. You will be missed terribly. We’re praying for your family and friends and loved ones who were all blessed to have known you.

I know we weren’t close at all, but we were definitely friends. The one memory that sticks out the most to me would be when we were up at Grand Haven for the 4th of July Two years ago and after a long day out in the sun we both ended up in my car passed out waiting to go home lol, you in the back me in front. Not sure what had happened but you had asked me for a ride home that day and it was you, me, and Miquel. That’s the one memory that i would carry with me forever. What’s sad to realize is that place would unfortunately lead to your demise. You will be missed deeply. Rest easy Young One

We got to know Danielle by being “regulars” at DeLuca’s restaurant on Thursday nights. We always looked forward to seeing her and sharing our thoughts with her. Danielle’s smile and sense of humor always brightened our day and our memories of her will last forever. She had a way of making us feel just a little bit better about ourselves each time we talked. Our sincere condolences to family and friends.
