Daniel L. Scott

Lansing. MI

On Monday, August 13, 2018, Daniel L. Scott passed away at age 73.

Dan was greatly loved by his family and by many in the community. His constant drive was to be of service to others, and with his prodigious skill at repairing things, he helped multitudes of people. At age 12, he fixed radios in a repair shop to support his family. He later worked at Fulton Radio, then as an appliance repairman at Montgomery Ward, where, between service calls, he would visit lonely shut-ins he had met on prior calls. Lastly he worked as an electronics technician at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Lab at Michigan State University, where, always learning, he programmed the interlock safety system among other things. In his spare time throughout his life, he continued running service calls for little or no money, adding to his great circle of friends by aiding all he saw that needed it.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Becky, and his children Dave, Jane Linley, Carolyn Harper, Muriel, and Jacqueline, as well as his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dan was predeceased by his mother, Grace A. Scott, father Robert E. Scott, and daughter Dana.

A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Red Tail Pavilion at Hawk Island County Park, 1601 E. Cavanaugh in Lansing, starting at 5 p.m., with services and remembrances at 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter.

You couldn’t ask for a better friend, and was a great co-worker at MSU. We worked well together at the Cyclotron. Delma and I appreciate knowing such a wonderful person and his family. He will be greatly missed.

David, Jane & family, Sorry to read of your dad’s passing. I didn’t know him well but your grandpa thought quite highly of him. God’s blessings on the entire family.

“Neighbor Dan”, as we affectionately called him, was a patient, thoughtful, loyal and supportive friend. He was such a kind and gentle man and helped me through life often and in many ways. He was clever, talented and intelligient – a man for all seasons. Peace and love to Becky and his family, and thank you for sharing this wonderful man with us.
