Daniel L. Popoff

Daniel L. PopoffAge 78, passed away September 21, 2017.  Dan was born September 26, 1938, in Lansing, to Catherine and Lewis Popoff.  He served as Senior Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Dan graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, then from Michigan State University with BA and MBA degrees.  He became a Certified Public Accountant and spent the majority of his career with Maner Costerisan & Ellis PC, where he was also a shareholder.  After he retired from public accounting, he began a second career as a financial planner with Financial Technologies in Lansing until his retirement in 2014.  Dan was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, a proud MSU Alumnus, and past commander of the Lansing Sail and Power Squadron.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, boating and fishing, and playing games, reading and telling jokes with his granddaughters.

Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Penny; second wife, Georgana; daughter, Catherine; sister, Deanna Popoff; and by his parents.  Surviving are:  daughter, Alexis (William) Krieger; sons, Lewis (Kathryn) Popoff and Nicholas (Robin Fogg) Popoff; granddaughters, Penny, Sarah, Chloe, and Lucia; and friend Elaine Mickelson.  His family wishes to express special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Cardiac Care Unit of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, for their loving and compassionate care.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with a Trisagion service at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in memory of Daniel Popoff.
