Cynthia Lee Suehr

Cindy SuehrCynthia Lee Suehr, 60, of Haslett Michigan, passed away on November 19th 2024 at home.  Cindy was born January 27th 1964 to David L. & Jane U. Boyd in Decatur, Illinois. The family moved to East Lansing in 1968 where Cindy graduated high school in 1982, where she was an All-American Swimmer and helped lead their team to their 6th straight State championship in 1978. After high school, she attended Olivet College to pursue a bachelor in education and later Michigan State University where she obtained her Masters in education. She married her high school sweetheart Jeff Suehr on June 28, 1986 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She taught for a few years and ultimately chose to pursue motherhood as her primary occupation with the birth of their three daughters.

She returned to work in 2001 as a middle school teacher at Perry High school, where she was a dedicated teacher, friend, mentor and icon until 2021. Cindy’s passion for teaching was secondary only to ensuring those around her knew they were important, loved and valued. She would make friends with everyone and when she entered a room, you knew she was there by her infectious laughter. One of her favorite parts of teaching middle school, was each year when she took countless students to Washington D.C where they explored history and brought learning to life. Each holiday season, her classroom would become a place of joy and tradition as students knew they could always count on her to share the love of the season through fun movies and activities that made it special for everyone.

Cindy enjoyed attending MSU football games (or anything MSU really!) especially with her sister Deb Boyd and brother David Boyd (Chrissy). Saturday afternoons were a dedicated time to tailgating and cheering on her favorite team with friends and family.

Cindy’s greatest love was her husband Jeff and her role as a mother to Rose Pierce (Dan), Alexis Suehr and Ashley Jones (Ryan) and then as a beloved Gigi to Riley and Sophie Jones, Henry, Audrey, Will and Caroline Pierce. The void that is left after her death cannot be described by words in the lives of her husband, daughters and grandchildren. We know she placed her trust in Jesus as her Lord and Savior and one day we will see her again in Heaven.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents in 2006, her mother-in-law in 2019 and father-in-law in 2017.

Services will be held Sunday, December 8th 2024, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1315 Abbot Road, East Lansing, Michigan, with a visitation at 2pm and service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Perry Public Schools in honor of the cherished “Mrs.Suehr”.

I was just so, so sorry to learn of Cindy’s passing. I was in middle school and high school with she and Jeff. We attended a couple of classes at LCC all together and even before they were married, they were a lovely couple. I understand she, among many other things, created a wonderful family and my heart goes out to all of you.

It was such sad news to hear of Cindy’s passing and I pray for her family in this time of sorrow. I loved the DC trips with her and “blame” her for my addiction to NCIS. Love and will miss you girl; until I see you again in heaven, keep the laughs going!

The Boyd family took me in as one of their own. I have loved them for years. It broke my heart when Mr. and Mrs. Boyd passed and it breaks my heart now with Cindy‘s passing. Jeff, Rosie, Ashley, Alex, Debbie, and Dave, I love you all. My prayers are with all of you. And I thank you for the many many years of happiness and great times with your family. I am so sorry for your loss. It breaks my heart.

Cindy, God threw away the mold after he made you! You were a one of a kind force of love! I enjoyed your laughter and friendship in the five years I was with Perry Middle School! May the angels welcome you to heaven, Cindy, and may your family be lifted up by the memories of you that they will hold close!

Dear Cindy, I hope Heaven is big enough to absorb all of your laughter, hugs and love that you took with you. If it’s not and we pay attention we might feel the overflow on those gorgeous sunny days, when the air is sweet and the birds are singing. May your wonderful memory live forever, Cindy. Rest in glorious Peace.

Oh, my goodness! I saw her not too long ago shopping. She was my middle school language arts teacher….she was so funny. It was never boring in her class! I hope her family finds peace in this time of grieving….she will be missed greatly by all her students!
