Connie Baxter

Connie BaxterAge 70, passed away April 1, 2024.  She was born December 22, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, to Leon and Pauline Kappler.  Connie attended Lansing Community College and then graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry.  She worked at Abbott Laboratories for 5 years, then worked at Renite Co. for 2 more years before taking an early retirement due to chronic illness.  Connie enjoyed music, taking long walks and martial arts, earning two black belts. She was a very out-going person, and had an uncanny knack for generating spontaneous interactions wherever she went. She was devastated by her illnesses, and numerous spinal surgeries resulting lack of mobility, which walled her off from everything, she enjoyed in life.

She is survived by:  husband of 38 years Jeff Baxter; ex-husband Randy Grasss, daughter, Andrea Litzenberg; granddaughter, Sabrina (Rowan) Moore; siblings, Karen, Butch (Vickie), Marilyn Debbie, and sister-in-law Luanne, mother-in-law LouAnne (Warren) Hetrick, and sisters-in-law Teresa, Jenny and Becky.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Raeanne Grass; and her eldest brother, Nelson.

She requested that there be no public service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation in memory of Constance Baxter.  Online condolences may be left for her family at www.EstesLeadley.com.

I’m so so sorry for your loss. Connie was a client of mine, at the salon, for the last several years. We really enjoyed talking and getting to know each other. She was an easy person to open up to, discuss life and family, and in turn I was her ‘hairapist’.
I will miss our appointments and conversations. Prayers for the family during your time of grief.

Jeff, Andrea, Sabrina, Rowan and others: you’ve been in our thoughts since we learned of Connie’s passing . When a family member is chronically ill/in pain, the whole family suffers, & we’re praying for strength and peace as you grieve this loss and begin finding your new normal. Much love.
