Clifford Lyle Burkholder
Clifford was born to the late Benjamin and Lauretta Burkholder on December 16, 1925, in Mancelona, MI, and passed away on September 3, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille and Retha; brothers, Eldon, Harvey and Milo. Clifford is survived by his wife, Mary Alice of 65 years, children, Ricky (Christine) Burkholder, Diane (Richard) Warner, Nancy (Scott) Becker, Clifford A. Burkholder, Timothy L. Burkholder, Laurie (Terry) Sanford, Rebecca (Mark) Sawyers; grandchildren, Troy, Tyler, Chyanne, Jillian, Ryan, Dane, Erika, and Shannon and 6 great-grand children.
Clifford graduated from Mancelona High school and attended college in Chicago where he studied heating and cooling. He was a handyman that could fix anything. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and camping. Clifford always looked forward to watching the Lawrence Welk show at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday nights. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII where he participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryukyu Island and in the occupation of China in the Marine 6th division. Clifford worked for Coca-Cola bottling and Coca-Cola USA for over 30 years. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church and participated in the Men’s Club at the church along with being a member of the VFW 701 post. Semper Fi
The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at the church. The family will also receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
