Chuong Quoc Phan

Chuong Quoc Phan, our father, of Lansing, MI, passed away on March 8, 2020, peacefully in his home. Born in Vietnam to Tuan Quoc Phan and Hien Thi Doan, he was the youngest of six children.

Although never certified in any official document, our father was a great solver in anything mechanical or engineering; there was no task too big that he cannot tackle and solve. He had a great capacity for artistic talent and the ability to build any sculpture; his home and landscape were made beautiful by his hands. Our father’s hobby included landscaping, fishing, watching Vietnamese TV dramas, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Our father also lived his life guided by his Catholic faith. He put everything in the hands of God when he decided to take the long and arduous journey from Vietnam to America in search of a better life for his family. Without him, we would not have this opportunity and life in America.

He is survived by nine of his ten children and 14 grandchildren, with one grandchild on the way. He also has many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives in Vietnam and in the US.

The Funeral Mass for our father will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Dung-Lac Parish in Lansing, MI. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel in Lansing, MI, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. In lieu of gifts, please send any donations to St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing, MI, for Mass offerings.
