Christina (Demitroff) Kyriakou, age 94, passed away April 11, 2020. She was born September 15, 1925, in Polypotamos, Florina, Greece, to Stoyan and Vasiliki Demitroff. Together with her husband George, Christina came to the United States in 1951. George preceded her in death in 2007. Christina was a caring, hard-working, down-to-earth person who greatly loved her family and only wanted the best for them. She worked as a seamstress at F.N. Arbaugh, Barron’s, and Jacobson’s department store. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and loved cooking delicious ethnic meals for her family and friends. She made the best zelnik! (Macedonian spinach pie). Christina was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church. She is survived by: children, Bill (Merri) Kyriakou, Tom(Brenda) Kyriakou, and Menka Kyriakou (Robert Fonoroff); 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Kyriakou (Mike Medoro), Marnie Kyriakou (Keith Meerman), Brent (Lareina) Kyriakou, Nicholas (Geraldine) Kyriakou, and Alexa (Ryan) Andersen; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Kyriakou, Nicholas, and Amelia Kyriakou.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020, at St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church, 1216 Greencrest, East Lansing, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services in memory of Christina Kyriakou.
