Christ G. Pogoncheff
Age 80, of Lansing, passed away September 2, 2010. He was born on March 21, 1930 in Lansing the son of Gligor and Anna (Tarpoff) Pogoncheff.
Christ was the co-owner of the Washington Grill and Washington Foods and spent 18 years as a bus driver for the East Lansing Public Schools. He was also a sergeant with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Mounted Division.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Blagoy and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Pogoncheff; son, Gregory Pogoncheff; daughters, Elaine Pogoncheff (Nancy English), Gina (Rob) Stanley, and Catherine (Ralph) Hansen; 5 grandchildren, James Stanley, Nicole Stanley, Ryan Swan, Lucas Hansen, and Kevin Hansen; brother, Carl G. Pogoncheff; and uncle, Archie (Peggy) Tarpoff.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Christopher Rozdilski officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday with a Panikheda service at 7:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church.
