Charles Finn

Charlie is in heaven, celebrating Christmas with our Steve. His health has been failing for several weeks now, and began hospice care. Charlie passed at about 5 p.m. on December 25, 2020, surrounded by family. He was born on March 27, 1938, to Gerald and Margaret Finn (Hamilton). He enjoyed fishing, being a scout leader, Boxing judge for the state of Michigan. Charlie was a member of the Capitol City Old Car Club with his 1938 Packard and Oldsmobile, Brothers of the Hammer motorcycle club, and the Les Danseurs Dance Club, where he served as president for a while. He was an outstanding ballroom dancer.

Charlie retired from the Lansing Police Department as a detective, motorcycle officer, and the dive team.  The Lansing Police family were very important to Charlie. He served as a Navy Corpsman. After Charlie retired from the police department, lived in Betmar Park in Zephyrhills, where he enjoyed golf, dancing, cards, and great friendships. Charlie loved his sons, and loved the daughters he got when they married.

Charlie is survived his wife of 61 years, Rexine Finn (Milheim); sons, Michael (Tina) Finn, Eric (Sue) Finn, Paul (Shellie) Finn, and Dave (Stacey) Williamson; Grandchildren, Matt Finn, Nikki (Cody) Johnson, Kent (Jessie) Williamson, Connor Finn, and Mckenna Finn; God daughter, Heather Croley; brother-in-law and best friend, Bob Milheim; cousins and best friends, Frances Martin and John Dyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eugene Acker; his son Steve Finn; and his grandmother, Louisa B Hamilton (Dyer).

A celebration of life will be held next summer. Contributions can be made in honor of Charlie to the Capital Area Humane Society.

Rexine and family, my heart was saddened to hear of Charlie’s passing. I feel your loss as well. Charlie was such a good man and his dry sense of humor can never be forgotten.
While those of us still here will miss him, he is having a wonderful reunion in heaven.
As family, I pray you will find comfort and peace and know that you are not alone.

Rexine and family, we were so sorry to hear about Charlie’s passing. We worked together a lot at LPD, and it was nice to connect again at Independence Village. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our love and comforting thoughts go out to the entire Finn family and community of friends who are feeling this loss. Charlie was a giant among men and we will miss him.

Yes, I did receive. So sorry for Charlie’s passing. But I know he will be well receive in heaven.
And I’m sure Joyce will be right there to welcome him aboard (a little Navy talk. ha). Can’t help but to think back to a few “great” times at your place in San Clemente: like doing surgery on your dinning table.(Shhhhh)
Do take care “Spottie”! I have been praying for you and boys and their families
A little poem for you: Day by Day
Day by Day
O, dear Lord,
three things I pray:

To See thee more Clearly,
To Love thee more dearly,
To Follow thee more nearly,
day by day.
by Richard of Chichester (1197 – 1253)

Truly sorry. Love you Rexine. Many hugs to you !!!! Chuck
