Charles Edgar “Chuck” Hallman

Charles “Chuck” Edgar Hallman, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with end-stage renal disease. Born on October 5, 1955, to Carl and Ruth Hallman, Chuck was raised in Lansing, Michigan.

Chuck graduated from J.W. Sexton High School and continued his education by taking courses at Lansing Community College. On September 5, 1981, he married the love of his life, Myrna (Harold). Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage and built a family centered on love, service, and devotion. They were blessed with two children, Richard (Rick) Hallman and Rebecca (Dolley).

Chuck dedicated many years to serving his community as a volunteer EMT and firefighter. His commitment to helping others inspired his son, Rick, who followed in his father’s footsteps by serving as a firefighter and paramedic. and dispatcher. Rick courageously battled cancer before passing away on August 21, 2021.

Chuck was a member of Wacousta-DeWitt Lodge #359, F&AM, and Wacousta Chapter #133, OES. Chuck found joy in golfing, camping, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Red Wings. During the Christmas season, he especially loved portraying Santa Claus alongside Myrna, bringing smiles and holiday cheer to children and families throughout the community.

After years of health challenges, Chuck is now at peace, free from pain, and reunited with those who went before him: his father, Carl Hallman (November 21, 1980); his mother, Ruth Hallman (July 28, 2007); his sister, Carleen Hallman (May 14, 1972); and his beloved son, Rick Hallman (August 21, 2021).

Chuck leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Myrna Hallman; his daughter, Rebecca (Josh) Dolley; his grandchildren, Logan, Sarah, and Parker; his daughter-in-law, Kristen Hallman (husband Tom Dingey); his grandchildren, Ruth, Claire, Grace, Grant, Lily, and Nathan; including in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and his sister, Carol Wood.

He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will remember his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others.

Chuck’s legacy is one of selfless service, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. Whether answering a call as a volunteer firefighter, sharing laughter around a campground, enjoying a round of golf, cheering for the Red Wings, or bringing Christmas magic to children as Santa, Chuck made a lasting difference in the lives of those around him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neighbors United an organization that provided compassionate support to both Chuck and Rick during their battles with cancer. There will be no public services. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel

My heart goes out to the Hallman family. We were next door neighbors for years and watched Rick and Becca grow up. Chuck was a great father, and Mima a great mother ( and cook) We will miss Chuck and never forget him.

Chuck was a fellow firefighter and we were on the same team. Some of us used to take day trips on motorcycles. Oh the good times. The laughs, the memories. Even our next generation became friends. He and Myrna made a perfect couple. They were meant for each other. The love they shared was magical, and frankly worth being jealous of, He is missed already and always loved and respected. RIP my friend. The world and those of us who knew him are the better for it.
