Born December 7, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Nienhuis) Lambers died on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the age of 80.
Kay attended Monmouth College and graduated from the University of Michigan where she remained active in the Alumni Association. She was both a teacher and Elementary Counselor in the Waverly School District until her retirement in 1999. She was a longtime member and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Lansing and a member of the bell choir. She also volunteered for over 30 years with the Sparrow Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two children, Diane (Allan Treiman) Humes of Seabrook, TX and Dr. Richard (Carmen) Humes of Troy, MI; four grandchildren, Daniel and Michael Treiman as well as Alissa and Stephen Humes. Other survivors include her sister Edith (Dale) Winter along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in the Sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing, 510 W. Ottawa. Interment will take place at Douglas Cemetery in Douglas, MI. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and an hour prior to the service time on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions in Kay’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
