Carolyn Ann Taylor
Of Petoskey, Michigan, formerly of Lansing, Michigan passed away July 22, 2026, in Petoskey. She was born in LeRoy Township, Osceola County, Michigan on January 18, 1942, to the late Arthur and Lorene (Chapman) Long.
Carolyn started her early life in rural Michigan, later moving to the city where she lived in a unique basement home in Lansing. In her school days her favorite place to get away was to the library, which started a lifelong passion for reading and books. She was a 1959 graduate of Everett High School. In 1961 she graduated from E W Sparrow School of Radiologic Technology, she also earned an associate’s degree from LCC in1982. From the age of 17, Carolyn started her career as a Radiologic Technologist at Sparrow Hospital. Her career in radiology took her to North Carolina. When her first grandchild was born she moved back to Michigan. She then moved to Petoskey following both of her grandchildren where she continued her career until retirement at age 70. In her free time, she enjoyed going on adventures and traveling with her friends. She also was an avid and active gardener, with a passion for her plants. Just like her mother before her, she developed an interest in the Detroit Tigers, rarely missing a game and even attended her first home game at the age of 80.
Carolyn is survived by her son Dan (Anne) Taylor, grandsons Jacob Taylor and Ben Taylor; sisters Connie (Howard) Casey, Janice (Mike) Courter, June Squires, and Ardith (Mike) Walter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marilyn Williams, and brothers Arnold Long, Charlie Long and Gordon Long,
The funeral for Carolyn will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W, Washtenaw St, Lansing, Michigan 48933, with Fr. Michael W. Kuchar as celebrant. interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday for one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
