Carolyn A. Jehner
Age 83, passed away on July 29, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1941, in Lilbourn, Missouri, to the late Berdine and Arthur Hampton.
Carolyn had a servant’s heart and a passion for creating beauty and comfort for others. She loved quilting, gardening, antiquing, and was deeply committed to her faith and her family, especially her grandchildren.
She spent her career in education as a classroom assistant with the Lansing School District, where she touched countless young lives until her retirement. A proud member of Crossroads Church for over ten years, Carolyn was actively involved in ministry and community outreach. Every Wednesday night, she served meals to those in need through her church’s food program.
A prolific quilter, Carolyn created hundreds of quilts throughout her lifetime. Her handmade works warmed women and children in shelters, the elderly, every newborn in her church, and anyone in need—family, friend, or stranger. Her sewing was not just a hobby, but a legacy of care and compassion.
Carolyn also served as a dedicated volunteer at McLaren Hospital for over 27 years, donating more than 17,000 hours of her time. She lovingly sewed pillows for heart patients and baby blankets for newborns, bringing comfort to thousands.
She is survived by her children: Jerry “Mark” (Susan) Holt, and John (Eryn) Holt; grandchildren: Anderson Holt, Oliver Holt, Felix Holt, Jacob Holt, Sterlyn Holt, Stephanie (Chris) Hall, Elinore Miller, and Cora Miller; and great-grandchildren: Lisa Hall and Louis Hall. She is also survived by her siblings: Louis (Judy) Hampton, Peter (Peggy) Hampton, Bonnie (Dennis) Ryan, and Brenda (Al) Hopkins; special friends: Justin Miller and Bill Miller; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chalmer Jehner; her son, Michael Holt; and her brother, James Hampton.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, where her family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt.
