Carol M. Vann

Carol Maxine (Damon, Garner) Vann went to meet her Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. She was born September 25, 1942, the eldest daughter of William and Esther (Mutz) Damon of Lansing, MI. Carol attended East Lansing High School, class of 1960. She retired from the State of Michigan. She was active in her church as a member of United Methodist Women, and a former Sunday school teacher. She volunteered for several organizations and loved to help people. She served as a scout leader. Carol enjoyed music and was a member of the Lansing Art Guild. She also was a published poet. She enjoyed travel, especially to Jamaica. Carol obtained a doctorate degree of natural medicine. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Okemos.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Yuri Y. Vann; children, Ruth (Chris) Sorensen, Lee (Alenda) Garner, and Seth (Elizabeth) Garner; grandchildren, Ian (Ashlee), Zachary, Isaac (Angela), Jacob (Jordon), Hannah, and Emily; great-grandson, Victor; and her sisters, Joanne (Paul) Ross and Evelyn (Rick) DeBlock. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Samuel Benjamin Garner.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Grace United Methodist Church, Lansing, with Pastor Paul Hahm officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 10th at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or the United Methodist Women’s organization.
