Carol Ann Wichtoski
Lansing
Carol Ann Wichtoski, AKA Sweet Pickles The Clown, was called to be with the Lord, whom she loved with her whole heart and soul, on Saturday, March 11, 2017. We, her family and friends, are called to celebrate her life. Carol was born on December 27, 1942, to John and Helen Wichtoski in Lansing, MI. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and retired from Michigan Bell as the first female outdoor supervisor.
She was “Special Aunt Carol” to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Carol leaves behind one sister, Alice Wyatt, and her special nephew, Benjamin Popoff-Wyatt, to whom she was a second mom.
Carol gave unconditional love, and was a care-giver to all. She hosted all Holiday Parties and super fun weekends at her lake home. She had high expectations from all who knew her, and did her best to help them achieve those expectations. Carol was a life-long member of St. Casimir Church, and a dedicated volunteer in her church and community. She was a member of the St. Casimir Altar Society, served as a Hospital Eucharistic Minister, Corn Roast Volunteer, Card Party Volunteer, Refugee Services Volunteer, delivered Meals On Wheels, Clowning and Face Painting at Lugnut Stadium, Tourist In Your Own Town, and participated in the Michigan Parade Into the 21st Century; she also served on the Board of Directors’ Communication Workers Credit Union. Carol enjoyed going to the lake, playing cards, trips to the casinos, garage and estate sales, sewing, flower gardening, family, neighbors, special friends Paula, Janet, Joyce, Pat, and her best four-legged friend Charlie.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. Casimir Catholic Church; with visitation at the church 1 hour prior. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Friday from 6-8 p.m., with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory can be made to St. Casimir Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing, MI 48910.
Thank you to Father Bill Lugger for his spiritual support and the doctors and staff at Sparrow Hospital.

March 13, 2017 at 6:06 pmCarol will be missed by all. I worked with Carol at Michigan Bell Telephone Company for many years. I worked in the assignment office while Carol moved to the outside world. She was a special person and I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless all of her family.

March 14, 2017 at 2:45 pmIt has been such a pleasure being Carol’s neighbor for the last 8 years. She was always offering what she had to help others. We will miss seeing her tend to her flowers in the front yard and when she would take her daily walks with Charlie. She would always put together special goodie bags for our daughter every Halloween, just another example of how thoughtful and sweet she was. The world has lost a very special lady and she will truly be missed by all that knew her.

March 17, 2017 at 4:39 pmI had the privilege of working with Carol at Ameritech at a time when they required women to take ‘non-traditional’ jobs whether they wanted to or not. When I had to take over a field crew for a few years, I would have been totally lost without Carol’s mentoring & friendship. Carol was a loving & sensitive, yet strong, lady always taking the high road. I know she inspired many people, like me, by just being herself. Rest In Peace.

March 18, 2017 at 9:30 amAlice, I am so sorry for your loss. I had wanted to see you at the funeral, but I couldn’t make it. Carol is in my prayers and so are you. She and I would see each other up to Colonial Village and talk about our aches and pains and I would ask how you are doing. I haven’t seen her in church for a while, but didn’t know she had been in the hospital. You two were pretty active with your craft projects and at St. Casimir Women’s Guild. You both have been missed. Prayers for all the family. Sincerely, Donna Queen
