Carlene Jean Howrani

Carlene Jean Howrani passed away on Saturday, May 7th. She was loved by her family, friends, and neighbors. Together with her husband Faris they were supporters of many outreach charities making life better for others in the greater Lansing area. St. David’s Episcopal Church was a cornerstone of her faith providing strong ties to lifelong commitments and friendships. Celebrations were very important at the Howrani house; and Carlene loved hosting birthdays and holidays with the extended family. Carlene was an artist of note; using oils and charcoals to capture the beauty in her varied pieces. She was proud to learn the art of iconography and of the images she completed.

She is survived by Faris her husband of 61 years; their children Adeeb, Alex, Adam, and Alicia Ferraro; granddaughter Gianna Ferraro; her sisters Penny Sanghvi and Terri Golowesky; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1519 Elmwood Rd., Lansing, MI 48917, Friday, May 13th, 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment of ashes will be at the church’s memorial garden. A lunch in the Great Hall will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to St. David’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Dearest Cousins—I am very sorry to hear the news of Carlene! I couldn’t remember how many years you lived behind us—many fun times traipsing through the garden path to play with my cousins. Sending all of you our deepest condolences. Prayers that God’s hand holds you up through this and that His hand moves you along through such a sad time. Peace, Cousin Theresa and Keith Williams

Dear Ferris & Family,
Sorry to hear of Carlene’s passing. She was always so gracious and soft spoken. The last time I saw her was at Johnny & Terri’s farm party a few years back & I had a beautiful conversation with her. It didn’t matter that we had not seen each other I quite a while.
Even though your hearts are broken, keep the happy & good times close to your hearts too.
Love to all,
Annette & John Vanderaa

Dear dear cousins! May God be with you at this very difficult time. Your mom was beautiful inside and out and to think of all the years she had to put up with us. Sorry, had to smile when I think about her. Stay strong and know that much love and light are being sent your way! Linda Avetta Nayfa

Dearest Faris and family,
Carlene’s beautiful smile, and her sweet attentive demeanor when conversing, I will remember always. Her graceful, kind way is admirable and I loved watching you both together. 61 years together is incredible! God be with you all and may His Angels fill you with peace and comfort. Much Love, Mike and Anne Marie VanTol
